Hello folks,
I know it may be too early, but I am curious to know who is who (I hatched 6 eggs). Could you please have an educated guess regarding the 2 weeks old chicks gender. They all are different breed so I can't compare like for like, but I have my wild guesses.
In one of the groups I was told that Maran is not a Maran apparently, though I hatched it from the dark brown egg and the parents are marans (seller confirmed).

It is a bit too early, but already the BLR wyandotte is looking like a male, as well as the sleeping barred plymouth rock. The one you have listed as a "black rock" has more developed feathers which is pointing me to female. The comb is a little suspicious though.
It would be helpful to see the leg pigment of the barred rocks as well.

I think the chocolate orpington and olive eggers could be girls. This is just a guess as they are still so young. Unsure of so-called maran. I do not believe it is a maran either based on the comb that appears to be cushion and the clean legs.

I would definitely come back in about 2+ months and we might be more positive on our guesses then. ☺️ But boy are they cute!! Feel free to please tag me when they are older I would probably have more educated guesses then!

Super helpful and equally impressive guesses :) The BLR wyandotte is giving me the roo vibes as well, I noticed recently it started do the chest bumps with the other chick (the one with suspiciously large comb).

The BPR chick has got a bit of a dark wash on the legs.

I will certainly update on the gender outcome of these babies.
I have got ducks and geese, but first time human-hen.They are so personable, more than I thought.

How did you decide which chick was the Barred Plymouth Rock and which was the Black Rock?

I see that both of them are black with white barring.
I did not, the seller annotated every egg with the breed name.

I feel like with the barred rock chick it is still a bit hard to tell, but you will know FOR SURE once it grows in feathers. Males have thicker white bars and females are more dark with thinner white bars. Shown in the Pic below (not mine)

Yes I do strongly believe that the blr wyandotte is a male just looking at the thick head and legs lol! (Also he looks more like a glw to me.) The black rock may be a male too, but males and females will fight with each other so that doesn't tell me much. Can't wait to hear the update! ☺️ glad I could help.

In that case, it is a bit puzzling how a "Black Rock" chick comes to have white barring. A Rock that is black with white barring is typically called a Barred Rock.

I wonder if the seller mixed up an egg somehow? Or if a different rooster got a chance to mate with that hen?

Boys: Black Rock, Chocolate Orpington.
Girls: BPR, Wyandotte

The white one I need to see the comb and the egger could be either based on my sexing, I got 5/5 right out of my last batch of chicks I hatched and they were 3 days old when I sexed them

Aren't Black Rocks just one name black sex links can go by?

I will update on the genders :)

Here is the yellow chick comb. I am getting roo vibes from this chick, it was only a couple of days old when was seeking cuddles.
