I picked up six 14week old australorps today. All but one are missing all of their tail feathers due to pecking. I am assuming it is from overcrowding etc... My question is what is the best way to assist in getting them to grow back? I immediately gave them mealworms (a lot) to boost protein, but don't know if there is anything else to help the girls out. They look pathetic. TIA

My girls in my profile pic are NOT the new ones I picked up today

At 14 weeks they don't quite have their adult feathers so they should regrow them without too much trouble. I like to keep my young ones on a non medicated grower for a bit longer than recommended, especially for dual purpose breeds that will continue to grow for up to two years. The extra protein will help them finish growing, and to start laying, as well as finish out the baby molts. When they start to lay put out a dish of oyster shells for calcium. Australorps are one of my favorite breeds, they are so friendly.

It might not be from picking, but just another juvenile molt session...
.....they go thru growing several sets of feathers before they reach about 6 months.
