I have 4 CX supposedly. However while 2 are fat little monsters definitely roos the other 2 are smaller then the SLW and golden sexlink of the same age they also have much better feather development with nice little tails and long wings. I am beginning to wonder if the are CX. I figure they are females and I know that the females grow slower then male but that much? I would say that they are 3 times smaller then the other 2 CX. I know at the feed store they were in the same bin as the white leghorns but there was a large divider between the two breeds I am beginning to think I may have some ninja leghorns that scaled the divider.
So my question to all you meat bird people is how much of a size difference is there between the 2 genders is there? I will hopefully post pics when I get home tonight of them but right I would just like your expert opinion. I have all of my supposed CX eating 24% feed and if the little ones are leghorns I'll move them in with my other egg laying chicks and start looking up more egg recipes and less chicken recipes

I have nine CX that were hatched 2/14. I think I have four hens and five roos, but they're all basically the same size. Today I weighed one of each, the pullet was 2.5lbs, the roo 2.8. The difference is the roos have a larger comb, still pink, not red, but larger than the girls. I love the "ninja" leghorns--I'm guessing that's what you got! White eggs, here you come

My phone/camera is not cooperating so I will get photos as soon as possible.

Is that live weight or processed weight? I got my chicks from Cal Ranch and they were all the same size now BIG difference. I this the big CX are roos because they have pinker bigger combs.

yep, you got some leghorn...1/3 the size is the give away.......cx hen are a little smaller than cx rooster , not much...cs should weight 1 lb at 4 weeks

Well darn well were really looking forward to do several meat birds this year. Maybe now I can talk hubby into getting some turkeys now since we won't have as many chickens.

I think I been in denial for the last two weeks just hoping they were slow growers but when they started jumping out of the brooder at a week I knew that wasn't normal meat bird behavior thanks for the help.

ps anyone want a couple of leghorns?
