Size of hardware cloth for quail pen...pics of pens?

Hello all! I am contemplating getting quail (would love Gambels if I can find them, of Ca Valleys) and am wondering if the 1/2 inch hardware cloth I have would work as the bottom of their pen? Also, I'd love to see pictures of other folks' quail cages/pens and how they made them. Thank you!

I don,t know about gambels , yet

but 1/2 X 1 " is almost too small for my bobs who knew they would get this big

Wow, so pretty much try it and find out eh? You all have totally different policies on the subject. Thank you for the response. Anyone else? I want to see if there starts to be a pattern to the responses, rather than each one being different and contradictory.

I have been around bobs friends of mine keep that I hunt with. I trust JJ's experience so far it has saved me a lot of headaches really lessened my learning curve quiet a bit.
