I'm in the process of making some feeders for my coturnix pens out of 3" PVC. Planning on just using a uni-bit to drill some holes for the quail to stick their head in to feed. Wasn't completely sure the size though? Big enough they won't get their head stuck but small enough to minimize feed waste as much as possible. I was leaning around bout an 1" or so? To big? To small? Let me know wat you think!

Thanks
Luke

i used an 1 7/8 holesaw with the holes somewhat staggered then ripped a slot down one side to make filling easier, now i use a garden water jug with a long spout to fill it, if i build new ones i'd just use the holesaw and no slot.

I used 1 1/4" hole w/ 2" pipe and they doing fine.
