I just got some new pullets and was wondering about their size. They are supposed to be four months old and they are about the size of a pigeon Is this the right size for an ameraucana?

They are definitely ameraucanas not EE"s. Could they maybe be four weeks old instead of four months? they have feathers but still have places with fluffy down. Maybe I misunderstood.

We'd need to see pics, but sounds like they are four weeks old, not months old. If so, they may not be pullets at all, but cockerels, since that is a bit early to tell the sex on that breed. Who sexed them?

Well, I will have to wait until tomorrow for the pics. The lady I bought them from is out of town for the weekend. So I can't ask her anything yet.

Well I talked to the lady I got them from. She said they are definitely not bantams. But she got them from a hatchery so they probably are Easter Egger's instead of true ameraucanas. Oh well. They are 13-14 inches tall. To me they look just like my BO's looked at 8-10 weeks.I could never get a good picture. Could their growth be stunted?

Maybe she counted weeks wrong, and was just going by the months and not weeks. Or something like that...

They sound a little small, I'd make sure theyre getting good forage and feed and heat.

I still think you should put up a picture. We can tell a lot just by you putting something near them and taking a picture. Such as a basket ball or a ruler or even a cooking pot who's size we know. It doesnt have to be anything special, or with a lot of skill, just a picture.

OK the pics worked. (Thanks, son!) I am holding one of the birds. The other pic shows one in a cage and that horizontal bar next to its breast is 11 inches high. And that is a 1 yr old BO hen in the background.
So is there any way these are already four months old?
