Size of swimming pool for ducks

Hi,
I have 8 ducklings that are all over 2 weeks old. They are still inside, but I am working out the details of moving them outside. How big should a swimming pool be for my 8 ducks?
And to add to that, I would rather put the pool outside than in the run. Will my ducks stay close or wonder off? Will they be difficult to put back in the coop at dark? This is my first time raising ducks...

Hi!

I am a very protective duck mom. Just a warning.

Design the pen so that it accommodates the swimming hole.

For nine runners and a buff, I use a concrete mixing pan and a doggie pool. Works very well. Those are on a mix of smooth pea gravel and sand on a 2% slope. In warm weather I need to rake the area off maybe once a week, otherwise much less frequently.

And they are inside the Day Pen.

Ducks could wander off, or they could be taken by a coyote, fox, domestic dog or cat. Then there are the hawks and eagles.
