I'm just wondering what would cause a chickens primary wing feathers to be broken and just generally 'scruffy' looking. His primary wing barbs are really messed up bad. The rachis are not broken. We just brought this boy home from a local breeder and noticed how bad the feathers look. On over half of the primary feathers there is no barbs to speak of. Other than that he looks nice, healthy and alert. Loves crowing too!! A LOT!
You can also tell he cannot fly very well because of the broken primary feathers.
I noticed this morning he's doing a dance around this pullet. From what the breeder told us they are both four month of age. Isn't that a little young for that? She isn't laying yet either. I'm guessing maybe he's older than 4 months.
