Down to 4 eggs. Another rotten one popped, unfertilized.

I removed the remaining 4 eggs from under Skeksis this morning and put her on the roosting bar with the other chickens. Poor girl- she was so good at taking care of those eggs.

My wife went out to the coop earlier and told me that Skeksis was still clucking softly to her babies that never hatched.

Is there any way to get her some? Like day old chicks? Just a couple? From Tractor Supply or something? That’s so sad.

We are trying to keep her unique lineage going, so TSC chicks are not an option.

Oh okay. I just thought if you were wanting her to have chicks now. Maybe this time you could try putting some eggs in an incubator (so that she doesn’t step on them) and then give them to her when they are hatching (can you do that?) or once they have hatched. You just probably would want to do something soon so she doesn’t die from being broody too long.
