skin infection?Advice Needed

Personally, I'd stock up on triple antibiotic ointment and keep her smeared up. I'd also isolate for a day or two, just for rest and to keep it clean.

Thanks She is in the house. I will call around to see who carries Nu-Stock. I do also have triple antibiotic ointment. I also got some epsom salts so I guess I will soak her in that today and see how it goes. After she got done with her massage, she became aggitated that the silkie was in her cage, so I had to let my silkie out and she went in and put her self to bed. The silkie slept on the floor. The only thing she would eat was a peanut butter cookie. (I know how terrible is that? But she wouldnt eat anything else?)

eta She doesnt have scabs, she has thickened yellow skin on her back and tail and red (looks like chafed skin on her bottom) which is also thickened. Her tail is also swollen. It is confusing because I have never seen anything like it and it doesnt appear there are any references to anything like this when I do a search.

Thanks for your concern about my hands. I havent worn gloves but am washing my hands constantly. There chapped.

I will check the links out now. She is about the same as she was yesterday.

Blood parasite that infects the rbc's? I hope not.

Well she got this from mites which are now gone. A couple other chickens have it to a lesser degree, and they had the mites too. The only place I see it is on the ones that had the mites. And only some. She just is really bad. . I will have to check into that some more.

Hi there

Did you receive an answer to your question? I have a limousin hen with the same skin problem. The symptoms you describe are exactly the same
