skinny peachicks

I feed only a good medicated starter, it has all they need. as a treat give them a little of the starter wet ,

What people need to think about , children would rather eat candy, but doesn't mean its good for them. Same with birds, just because they like a treat, doesn't mean its good for them. little bits ok , to much they will not eat their food.

Make sure you make a new batch of wet starter , it will spoil fast. Just give them what they will eat .GREAT for starting new peachicks to eat. they will eat it from your hand.

Also be carefull of type of bugs you feed them......some are host for other Parasitic worms.

Worms ....................................Host

cecal ................................beetle , grasshopper
capillary............................earthworm
gapeworm.....................earthworm, slug,snail
tapeworm...................ant,beetle,earthworm,slug,snail,termite
fluke...................................dragonfly,mayfly

Yes they will eat these anyway, but no good reason to feed them more, also reason your birds need wormed 3 times a year.

Thank you all for your responses!! They are, as always, very helpful!! I have been wetting their food slightly for a few days now and they seem to be eating well on their own now. They still want my fingers but as long as I stay back from the brooder they eat just fine. I will cut back on treats and do my best to get them off to a better start!!

Thanks for the info about their typical body weight and insect information!

Last years chicks were not handled at all and they are not friendly. So, this year I wanted to hopefully get a little more friendly hatch. Hopefully, I did not ruin them!
