Sounds like a skunk. I would first start by getting rid of the grubs in your yard. they sell stuff at lawn and garden places.
As for catching it, as soon as it is trapped it is going to spray. It will be scared. Was told if shot it head they will spray somehow as a nuralogical response.
Be carefull and were gloves. They carry rabies and other nasty viruses.
Uncle had a descented skunk. Little monster hid under couch and wound bite the back of your ankles as you sat on it.
