Last night I caught a skunk in a live trap. Now I have to let it out. I have never done this before. I checked Youtube for videos on how to do this, so wish me luck!

I'm scared! I don't want to get sprayed!

From what I have done and seen, hold a blanket in front of you and slowly walk to the trap and lay the blanket over the trap. It keeps the skunk calm and if it is spooked it will spray the blanket and not you. Grab the handle and carry the trap wherever it is needed to let it loose. Here in Ohio it is illegal to take it anywhere and randomly drop it off unless it's at a nature preserve or something like that with permission. Skunks are definitely my least favorite trapped critter. I had a small hawk land not 10 ft from my window yesterday and the hens took off into the coop.

I would suit up in a contamination suit! Throw the blanket over it and try a rope to the cage and sink it in the closest river or creek! And if none of that was possible I would shoot it from a far distance! If you have ever had to de-skunk and animal before you would never want to get close enough to smell fresh sprayed skunk! If you think the smell in the air is bad wait until you smell it up close!
GOOD LUCK!

oh before you do anything go make sure you have loads of tomato juice on hand!

Success!

I'm woking on the video right now.
The skunk was sleeping and didn't want to come out, so I squirt it with the hose from a distance. After a few minutes of soaking, it finally came out.
Which way did it go? Moth balls work for getting them from under your porches and places you don't want them!
