skunks and coons

I just had an aweful thought! Could coons and skunks climb my coop and tear the screens of the windows and get inside my coop...that would be the only way they would get in...and I just smelled skunk

it depends on how thick the screen is. I lost a couple of my chickens to a coon.

YES !! A coon is very strong and very determined. Personally I have had 1" poultry wire ripped open to gain access to my birds. Old welded wire will break at the welds, if a big coon wants in. Only thing to do to your windows is 1/2" hardware cloth and screw it on good using washers or strips of wood to screw through. Skunks, in my experience, don`t climb near as well.........Pop

my cats can scratch through my doorwall screen, so I am sure that a coon can rip a window screen.
