Hey there

So I picked up some chicks that were labeled Silver Polish at the feed store a few days ago. After having a facebook talk with several other BYCers, we decided that silver polish must be the same as Silver Laced Polish, but now that they are starting to feather I don't see any beginnings of lacing, does that come later, or are these just very badly laced?

Silver Laced Polish, really, shouldn't be judged at this age. Their lacing really won't mature into actual "lacing" until laying age or just before it. I wouldn't worry yet.

Whew, good! I figured they wouldn't be the best quality coming from a hatchery, but if they feathered in completely like this, that wouldn't be lacing at all, LOL. can you tell I'm new to laced chicks?

Yeah them being from a hatchery I wouldn't really expect anything great, but who knows. . . My one Silver Laced Polish that survived out of hatchery stock is actually a gorgeous example of silver lacing. The ONLY fault in her plumage is a tiny bit of peppering on her tail and one white feather in her crest.

our silver baby is getting lacier every day. Her baby fluff didn't show any but her feathers do. Cute babies btw!

Here's ours a week ago:

My Golden laced were yellow under with lighter as in 2 layers of feathers. My Black/white hats were black/yellow/whitish. All became attractive birds close to breed standard, I think. Only minor traits noticeable when young beyond 'a bit different looking'. Note one on my picture.
