I was told that our Fudge (adult name, Fu Xi) was a BLRW. Well, he didn't look like it to me, but what do I know?

So, I'm looking through a catalog, and there's my boy -- a Gold-Laced Wyandotte! Our Fudge is a very good specimen of the type.

So, can my DD show him?

Of course you can show him! And thatss the only way to know the truw type. But if you post some pictures and or his weight we could help too!

He COULD be a BLRW still, even though he's black...If both of his parents were BLUE laced reds, 25% of their offspring will be BLACK laced red...so if you bred him to a SPLASH laced red, you would get 100% BLRWs.

Blue chicken genetics:

Blue x Blue = 25% black, 50% blue, 25% splash

Black x Splash = 100% Blue

Splash x Splash = 100% splash

Blue x Splash = 50% blue, 50% splash

Blue x Black = 50% Black, 50% Blue

Except that if he IS BLRW with black lacing he should have MhMh and be a rich dark colour. If he's GLW he is mhmh and more a, well, gold colour. He could also be a GLW/BLRW cross Mhmh with black lacing...

Well I don't have BLRW, but here are my GLWs (mhmh) for comparison:

My old roo lived to a ripe age, and I think he weighed in at 12 lbs at the end - massive muscle!

If anyone has a good coloured BLRW it would show the difference very clearly
