Chirping
Sorry this is a tad long but I wanted to share with like minded folks as this has been a fun experience so far and I am really enjoying every moment.
As you all know, I am very new to chickens and started off with 14 (got 2 extra) chicks. I got a little of everything to be honest. I read somewhere recently to start with 3-5 chicks and I was like "yup that suggestion is a bit late"
These are 3 weeks old:
Their personalities are really starting to show so as they do, I am slowly naming the others.
Pictured below is Mischief -- She has been the first to do so many things and is the one that ended up the closed off space of the brooder when the littles arrived a week after we got the first 11. I watched her try to act like a cat and calculate a "jump" to try to fly out of the tent. Then "Sweetpea" - I mean look at that sweet face! I also added the two "extras" that we got...one I think is a RIB and the other a Silver Laced Wyandotte? The pic of the Silver is not great, I am sorry - just as I was about to take the picture, Mischief was trying to walk out of the tent...LOL

These are 3 weeks old:
- 3 Wyandottes but I think I have 4 (two gold laces and one silver but looks like one of my extras is a silver laced as well). The two gold laces are Penny and Penelope
- Then we got 2 Rhode Island Blues but I think we have 3 (no names yet but all are very sweet and calm)
- One Blue Copper Marans (the personality on this girl is unmeasurable - she is a sneaky girl but sweet - we named her "Mischief").
- 3 Lavender Orpingtons (two female and one male..."Opie" is our boy)
- 1 Opal Legbar (my Avitar) and my gosh she is too funny. I finally figured out how to pick them up and not freak them out and she just couldn't get enough and kept coming back for more...LOL She is "Sweetpea"
- 1 Green Queen - she was going to be Queenie but she is just so tiny compared to the rest that she is officially "Squirt"
- 1 Frizzle EE but honestly I am not sure she is a Frizzle - other than her tail being wigged out..I am not sure she "Frizzled" - another week from what I understand before I can really say, not sure as I am new to all this. Still working on a name for her.
