okay, yesterday my rooster got in a nest and all the hens surrounded him in nests, ontop of one another kind of.. any idea why they did this, and/or why they slept here, instead of sleeping on their roost posts?

Hmmm, I dont know why they would suddenly start sleeping in the nests but you definitely shouldnt let them continue to do so because they will foul the nest boxes. Go out after dark and move them back to their roosts every night until they get the idea. Or, block off the nest boxes late in the day and unblock them first thing in the morning.

Yep, chel is right on and you need to teach them where to roost. It won't take much effort and everything will be fine. Managing the flock like you are doing makes life better for everyone and your close watch will be rewarded with clean unbroken eggs.... Good Job!
