sleeping chickens

I have what probably is a silly question but being new to this I was wondering ...When a chicken goes in for the night do they sleep the whole time it's dark .... or do they just chill out for a bit then sleep

They talk about the day's happenings, sleep, discuss quarrels and grievances - nap a bit - shove their roostmates who are crowding - sleep - get irritated at the mites/mosquitoes that are biting - sleep - listen for predators - sleep ------------------------------
