sleeping in the coop

they put themselves up wonderfully. they free range most all the time. they go in at dusk. i dont mind pitting them in the coop but sometimes i am not here when they go to bed. i have been putting them in the coop since last week. i close the door and they do fine stay in it except petunia she is determined to get on top of it. i put her in she comes out the little opening door, i put her back in she comes back out i put her back in she comes back out a few times of this and she surrenders. there were a couple of nights it was warm enough to sleep on top but i have been doing it since last week. maybe they will get it soon.

Well, chickens have been around a lot longer as a species than we have. I hope they know what temp really works for them. If you are really worried about them being too cold then I would ensure you can lock them into the coop. However, I think they will get along just fine! Let them be chickens...
