Sleeping in the nest boxes...

I Have 17 Hens And 2 Roosters And Was Having Trouble With The 4 Youngest Hens Sleeping In The Nesting Boxes So My Husband Goes In Every Night And Puts Them On The Roost And This Has Been Going On For About 2 Weeks And He Has Gotten Them All But 1 To Automatically Get On The Roost Now And Maybe The One Will Want To Be With The Other 3 Before Long Just Try Doing This With Your Rouge Hens And Maybe Persistence Will Win The Fight It's worth A Try

I have one hen who roosts on the nest box divider - my husband did not make two complete boxes, more like a divided box with a taller center. I don't think it is all that comfy but she likes it. The rest go to roost where they should.

Today I went down to the coop and I see "deposits" in one area and it's below the roost. So, maybe one of them is sleeping on the roost or the floor! I'm gonna try to do something with the coop this weekend.

I've been thinking about it alot today and I do think that I'm gonna cover the top two and make two new ones below. Then I'm gonna move the roost up and probably add another one.

Well, we got our first egg today and it was in one of the upper boxes. I did move the roost up to above the first box level and did add another up around the same height of the upper boxes. I just went and did a spot check on my chickens and none of them were in the boxes. Four was on the roost and four was in the floor lol. I did add a different board across the front of the boxes it's close to the dimensions of a 1x3 and it does look better than those real small ones I had on there. Thanks again for all your help and suggestions.
