Sleeping on top of Boxes, why not?

My boxes are made out of milk crates, I have an 8'x12' board on top. No poop can get in their boxes and I was goin to lay tile on top of the board so it would be easy cleaning. Is this a big NO?

Basically people don't like their birds on top of boxes because then they poo on them and you have to clean it . I shovel off poo off the top of my laybox every once in a whle because mine roost on the top edge of it.
