Sleeping situation for my chick

If you watch a broody hen in dang cold weather as 10 above in the day time, what you will see is the chicks are active and running all over, then she will call a time out. They will get under her, get a warm up, maybe a nap, and run again.

So what chicks need is a choice, a warm spot, and a cold area in a lot of space.

Very helpful! This is exactly my plan out in the coop! Update: they have moved and are very very happy! Tons more space, fresh dirt and grass pan,
low and high roosts ramps and nesting boxes for them to check out. Inside temp is 70 right now with no heater at all. If they start peeping after dark I’ll give them a warm spot tonight to help them adjust but hopefully not! They are thrilled thanks for all the help making this transition with me!

It's fine if they want to explore the nest boxes but do not let them sleep in them, as that's not a habit you want them to have.

Also are those the roosts running down the center? They're extremely close together from the looks of it? Roosts should be 14-16" apart from one another or else birds can pick on another across from them.

Sounds good! I’ll make sure they don’t sleep in the nest boxes. i can always temporarily board them if needed. The roosts are movable and will be adjusted as they get older and I figure out the layout. One will probably end up farther in the back when the food and water move into their run in the next month of so! Thanks for looking out!

P.s when it’s all done I will post a finish and process pic in the coop section but this is the inside of our expansion of the Large Over EZ that we got on sale! Went from 6x4 to 6x8! Ironically now we are confident we could have just built the coop from scratch 🥲
