OK is it true that hens curl their head back over their shoulder or under their wing to sleep and roos keep their head up/out? DH si driving me nuts with this whole "lets sit here EVERY NIGHT and figure out who is a girl and who is a boy out of the 100 roo's we ordered.... we have about 5 that sleep with their heads curled back over their shoulders and everyone else keeps it out front or hanging down to sleep. I told him I would ask.

My chicks are 8 weeks old now. We have 12 that are roosters for sure and some of them sleep with their head under their wings also. I don't know how true that is. Or maybe it is only for when they are full grown.

Yes I was thinking that it was something of an adult characteristic and we would need to wait. So far I am going with, "most of them have big combs and some have NO comb to speak of so those are prolly girls" but like I said, every evening he pulls up a lawnchair and turns on chick tv and the questions begin. Which is fun until we both get frustrated because I dont have all the answers.

Of my 13 hens and 1 roo, two of the hens tuck their heads under their wings. Everybody else sleeps with their head hanging down or tucked under their roost neighbor's body.
