I am not sure if there is anything wrong but I have a chicken that is on her roost that is very sleepy. I don't know if she is sick or not and I have had one or more of my birds do this before. Can anyone shed some light on this. Oh and by the way, I don't know if it is relevant but she is missing her tail feathers.

Thanks,

Brian

good morning, first thing I would do is check her and the rest of your flock for lice/mites. then if thats a clear, watch for a feather pecker, this bird might be low in the pecking order and is getting feather pecked. Do you have blue-kote? it is great for helping wounds to heal and for disguising where feather pecking has been going on. How old is your bird and what does she eat? is she laying? here is a couple of links that may help. Have you ever wormed your chickens, are they free range?

Well, I came home and she seems to be Ok, but when I picked her up she started puking a little like she drank too much water. She has a little fight in her, but she is a little quiet and the fluid coming out of her mouth is watery and a little on the white side, but is mostly clear. No, I have not check her for mites and I have never wormed them.

does the fulid coming out smell bad? is her crop full and firm. limit her food overnight and check her crop in the am, it should have emptied. if it does not empty, she may have an impacted crop. I have never had this problem, but have read here to give them olive oil or ACV to help move the food around, massage her crop gentle severl times and limit food intack, but give her fluids.
