ok new problem jersey girl my JG. got cut on chicken wire or a chicken claw dont know what. its on her butt. about a three maybe four inch long cut and deep enough to get threw the fist layer of skin well atlest thats what it looks like. can i do. hm made stiches or maybe supper glue, or lquid bandaid? she is really sweet and only about a month old. please hlep and thanks an adavances. ----sarah

Make sure you clean the wound with fresh water, check for any infection (white or yellow pus, grey/sallow skin), and apply an antibiotic cream (WITHOUT pain killer, the painkillers used in most antibiotics+painkiller can kill your chicken). Keep her someplace where she can't get it dirty, and check the wound daily until you can see improvement or scabbing.

You can apply some bluekote to the area. They wont peck it if it's not red, the bluekote will color it purple. If the wound isn't staying shut, you can use superglue but if it's not too deep it should stay closed on its on.

thanks guys i got her in a section off dog metel dog crate. and it took alot to get the wound closed and cloted. she got a lot of tlc too. i washed it out with proixide and and aplide triple antibotic (without caine in it). but it still wouldnt quit bleeding. i had some quick stop on it but thank goodness i read the lable it has benocaine in it. so i looked in my dogs animal first aid kit and found lquid baindaid for cracked paws. checked the lable and went for it. after reading a couple other post rom other peoples in the emergenice section. ater a few coates later and constance checking it finaly stoped. she is eating and drinking well. and seems to be ok. she does space out alot tho is that nomal? my mother was chinken sitting or me today and she thought i lost her for a little wile because she woulndt move. just stare and breth realy shallow.
