Sliddish Chicks!

Hi. We got chicks about a week ago. We have 3 Barred Rocks and 3 Orphingtons. The Barred Rocks are great. Fall asleep in our lap, let us pet them etc. But the Orphintons, which I thought would be the kindest of them all, are very skiddish. Is this normal? I'm brand new at this, so I don't know. Please Help!

Sometimes the chicks will get skiddish if you come at them from high above the brooder (think hawk, eagle, airborne predator) if you come in lower and slower that can keep them from getting so skiddish. My chickens all have different personalities from breed to breed ( currently have barred rocks, buff orpingtons, wyandottes, australorps, EE's, NH Reds) and while some breeds have certain breed traits, they all have definite different personalities. Just give it time and don't worry about it too much. They more they get used to you, they should warm up a little bit more.
