'Bird 'n the Fluffy Butts coop in Ohio
I have a few sneezes happening in my flock of 13.I noticed a little bit of watery discharge when a hen shook her head, then saw a second hen sneeze this little 'achoo'. noticed a hen a little lethargic as well. Poops are ok, most are eating good getting lots of greens and crumbles. Coop is clean, egg numbers have been down for a few months - no one in an obvious moult. It has been SUPER wet here in Ohio the last few months. Really hot too. Think I should just monitor or go ahead and give them something?

I went ahead and wormed with Valbazene last week.

I might be tempted to go ahead and treat with some Duramycin-10 in their water--1/2 Tb per gallon water. If anyone gets more symptoms such as facial/eye swelling, eye drainage or bubbles, or rattles when they breath, I would probably start Tylan50 injectable, 1/2 ml as a shot into the breast muscle daily for 3 days or orally for 5 days. You would need to buy syringes and needles for that at the feedstore. Diseases to think about are Infectious Bronchitis, Mycoplasma Gallisepticum, and Coryza, among others . Here is a link to common diseases: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044

I would give them 1 teaspoon powdered Oxytetracycline (also known as Terramycin) per gallon of drinking water for 7-14 days. That would help clear up any respiratory problem that they have are are just beginning to show symptoms of. You could also use Duramycin-10 as Eggcessive suggested, but I don't have any experience with that antibiotic.

Also, you could put some vitamins/electrolytes in your flocks water to give them an energy boost. After the antibiotic treatment, too, probiotics would help restore their gut's bacteria.

I have syringes, needles, Tylan, Albon, Baytril etc. you name it I have it in their first aid kit. I have had respiratory issues in the past with other hens that I have lost over the years, but no issues at all with this bunch at all. I am wondering what could the hot and wet could produce.
