My son took his duck for a "swim" in the tub and he thinks there may have been some leftover soap in the tub. He says the duck has been mellow since. Is she having a reaction to the soap or just tired from swimming? Could the tiny bit of soap be cause for concern? He's panicking, help?!?!

Breathe.

Get her into a sink of just water, let her rinse off really well.

How old is the duck?

If you have any food grade activated charcoal, a teaspoon of that in a quart of water - let her sip on that a bit. Charcoal is said to absorb toxins.

Give her plenty of fresh water, and watch her closely. Let her eat, also, what she usually eats. How is her appetite, by the way? Her breathing?

We have had her for about 3 weeks from the farm store. She Got a fresh water bath right after so I think she's OK. He thinks there is something wrong because she sneezed and seems a tad calmer than usual. She's eating normally & drinking water.

She may be experiencing something from contact with soap or perfume or other component in it. But if you have given her the fresh water bath, plenty of fresh water, have her in the right temperature in her brooder, there is not much more I can think of to do aside from the charcoal to be on the extra safe side.

So, watch her, you could add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to a half gallon of drinking water - it's supposed to be a tonic.

Let's hope she just pooped herself out with her bath.
