So, today is day 26 for my white Pekin eggs. One duckling had pipped a whole in the shell, it acted like it was trying to zip so I tweeted to it and all it could do was keep poking the same hole hard, I figured she needed help and although I don't like to do this I did. It is out and fine now, completely ready to hatch, just couldn't do it on it's own. Here is my question, she/he was very slimey. Why?? Using a LG still air bator. Misted the eggs once a day except for bout last 4 days. I have 9 left to hatch and about 5 have external pips . Will all the others have problems too? My humidity now is 55%. help! :-)

Our pekins usually hatch out on day 28.... I would say to give your girls /guys more of a chance to hatch out...Ducklings are super wet when they come out and need to stay in the incubator until dry. I would say just leave the hatch be unless you have a way to up the humidity and let it move on through. We generally hatch at around 70% for our ducks. good luck! and hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice!! I knew it takes 28 days for ducklings except muscovys. I guess my bator was running a little higher than what my thermometer said. I have hatched alot of chicks and Turkeys but this is my first time hatching ducklings in a bator, I normally use broody hens for ducklings. Thanks again for your help!! :-)

You are most welcome! Glad to be of service!... And remember sometimes it takes a good 24 hours and sometimes a little more for that duck to hatch out! Happy Hatching and Happy Easter!

That's great!!!! How are the ducklings? Did they hatch out healthy?

Yes, they are healthy so far, moving all over the bator. Since my last post 1 more had hatched and 1 is zipping as I'm writing this!!! So I'm working on the 4th baby! So AWSOME! I wasn't sure I could hatch ducklings in my Little giant bator because humidity needs to be higher but working good so far! I'm definitely buying more Pekin eggs! Lol :-)

I know a few of us who will be delighted to help you with duck eggs!!!!
