Slipping in the Rain/Snow

Hi Y’all I need ideas, my chicken run has my rabbit hutches attaches to it so I always have to go inside to feed them. And when it rains and I’m sure the snow it makes my pen muddy and I’m constantly slipping. I don’t need any broken bones. What can I use to keep this from not being an issue. Now the pictures below are when I first made my coop so the grass hasn’t been destroyed but I think you’ll get the picture of what I’m talking about. And yes my coop is made out of a recycled swing set playground. Thank you!!

Have you tried putting down sand?

Wood chips or a natural mulch about 4 inches deep.

Gravel, or better yet, wood chips. A good layer of wood chips, sometimes free from tree trimmers, if you call around or get lucky with one in the neighborhood.
For snow and ice, those attachable spikey things for the bottom of your boots, from the sporting goods stores.
We have icy ground today, and I tip-toe around out there for the same reason. Hate falling!

You could put down those anti-slip mats which might help, or spread kitty litter.

Gonna take a lot of them.....things will only get worse in the snow, and during snow melt season.

We contacted a tree guy that basically cuts down and trims trees for a living. and in turn sells firewood and chipped wood. He brought us 20 yards of chipped wood. We have a 500 sqft run. We put all of it in the run. It was laughable bc at first some of our largest chickens could practically look us in the eyes (or so it seemed). We spread it out a bit better and it settled after some rain. But, so much better now with the chipped wood filtering the wet. Being in PA, you were pretty wet last year/this spring too (just like OH), and it was a mess, so the chipped wood has been great.
