Slowly but surely, it's getting there...

Yep. When the roosts are down, there's a pathway one can walk in (without turning sideways) straight back to the front of the trailer. I think I'm going to go with the board. While the removable poop board sounds appealing, I'd have to figure something out as far as keeping poop off the ledge that's just above the nesting boxes; that ledge isn't deep enough for them to roost on.

And so, the priming begins! The interior is pretty much done. Got the mats in and did some fine-tuning to the nesting boxes. It's been so blessed hot here that I've had to do the priming in stages (you can see how "crispy" the grass looks in the picture below). I'll have 2 coats of primer down before final paint. Still not done with priming, however, I hope to have the priming done this upcoming weekend and this bad boy ready for final paint.



And, I really must be a glutton for punishment because hubby just picked up another old farm wagon this weekend that I plan on building the 3rd (and final, I mean it!) mobile coop on (but that's a project for next Spring).

How many chickens is this one going to house ??? And just out of curiosity, will you roll the whole trailer inside your barn or garage I see in the background, during some extreme cold ???

18 chickens. This coop will be put out in the field surrounded by electrified net fencing. During the harsher winter months it'll be parked alongside a stationary run.

It's pretty much done (let me rephrase that, stick a fork in me, "I'm" done.

Just a few more tweaks and she'll be out (complete with chickens) by tomorrow.

I used left over rubber matting (horse stall mat) for the ladder treads - no rotting!
