I have actually tried to lube the repro tract, and unless you get a small amount of fluid in the shell gland it will do nothing.

That's how we did in the avian clinic, Casport. I don't know what else to tell you. I admit you're knowledgeable, but you are not a veterinarian. I stuck my neck out pretty **** far to give advice, but I see it's not welcome. So I'm going to bow out before this situation gets any worse. I'm just extremely disappointed and rather upset at this time because the only thing that matters is saving that bird, not some stuffed shirt contest to see who's right.

Saving the bird is the most important thing which is why I have posted what I think is the way most avian vets would treat a bird and have provided text from those articles. It also happens to be the way I have treated several of my own.

In case I wasn't clear, the calcium pill or liquid is given orally, *not* mixed in a water container.

For those that might be curious, next time I process one or do a necropsy I will "inject" 50ml of colored lube in the vent, do a necropsy and post the pictures. What do you wanna bet that the majority of the fluid will be in the intestines and not in the repro tract?

Hey sorry to butt in but maybe you should try what @castportpony recommends and then if that doesnt work in 24hrs then try @Amykins procedure? It is all just what is best for the bird. I do know that @Amykins spent a bit of time working in an avian vet office...

I woke this morning and thought of another reason not to do it put fluids in there...Have any of you ever done a necropsy and found a whole egg in the abdominal cavity? Anyone care to guess how this can happen? The repro tract can rupture and that's where the egg ends up.

My best guess is that it's egg that went nasty. But that's a good question, so I'll email the pictures to a UC Davis avian pathologist and ask them what they would call it.
