I’m sort of grossed out by so many slugs on the property. I mean one small area had 20! And they are everywhere. I don’t want them going to my coop. What is the best product to align the outside of the coop with??
And
What’s a good product to get to eliminate them??

And chickens!!

Slugs are great free protein for them. Mine only like the little ones, but you can make them smaller with scissors!

But slugs actually do a good job cleaning up spilt feed overnight which in turn keeps the rats away.

But don’t slugs carry parasites? I don’t want the hens eating those 😝 I’m holding off on ducks until we make a pond. Than maybe consider a pair :)

I'm not sure, but you can't sanitise their environment to avoid all possible bugs and crawlies. It is good for them to forage and eat what they find. Mine love spiders, earthworms and flies! Flies carry lots of bacteria and worms carry parasites but never make my chickens ill.

If you raise a robust and healthy flock, feed them all the right nutrients, worm them regularly (or use a natural worm inhibitor), and provide good housing and space so they aren't stressed, then they will have strong immune systems.

I have my ducks swimming in a kiddie pool, which is big enough for 2, or at least until you dig a pond.
You need to get a pair. Ducks are social creatures. If you only have 1, it'll get lonely.

You haven't lived until you've witnessed a pair of ducks playing with a giant slug in a bucket of water, so it releases masses of protective slime which glues their bills shut and they try and wash it off in the water but it is too sticky, and they want to eat the slug but its too much fun playing with it first, so they have to wipe their bills clean on the grass first, and then eventually one of them downs the slug in one, like it said out of a shotglass down their throat!! lol

Chickens will just peck the big ones into pieces first. The tiny ones go straight down. Gross but apparently yum.

Ew, but funny at the same time!

Wouldn’t the ducks fly away though? Do you have to keep wings trimmed? Wife wants some but I’ve been super hesitant on them and said no for now.
