DianeB - My hens started laying a week after i moved them into the coop.. I got them off a friend who said they wasn't laying so maybe i got them at the start of "laying career"

cthrash1 - I saw some similar pictures and noticed a green shine on the tail of the cock ..(didn't on hen).. I can definitely say that he has a green shine on his tail feathers

Ill post some better pics when i take some.. btw his name is Magnum .. so i hope he stays a cock

some new pics taken today ..

I think im pretty certain he is a cock .. Im sure he is just learning how to crow too ..he has made more noise today than any of my hens in all the time i have had them

Built him his own box today . https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=262046 . The girls were bullying him so i decided to split them up but they can still see each other until he is big enough to hold his own ... poor little thing

I say that's a SLW roo and the girls in the pic here what you are calling Red Sussex too me look like they are Golden sex-links (the buff/white type not the typical red/wt. that most people call a GSL, Golden Comet, or Red Star) they look to have yellow legs. Sussex should be white legged.

catdaddy

P.S. Yes I imagine he'd be more than happy to oblige the gals with a little courting and wooing once they get better aquainted. Should be some very interresting results out of this combo.

I myself am going to try a Barred Rock roo x GSL's this spring and I'm getting pretty antsy about the results from them. Trying for buff barreds, don't know if that will happen but I'm gonna try it and see. Maybe you could post your hatch results if sohappens you hatch from this cross, I'll be watching.
