So, I have a SLW that is relentless with bullying my BO. Her back is bare and raw. I put Peck no More on her but it hasn't helped.
I've got the bully in a separate coop and small run now for 3 days and she's stressed. She paces back and forth constantly. I'm wondering if I should put her in a dog crate in the run or just let her out. I've not done this before but worried she'll be even more aggressive because of the stress. Or do I leave her in?

I put one mean pullet in isolation from the flock for 3 days, she wasn't happy at all, but when I put her back with the flock they stood up to her a bit and things leveled out. If it's the bully being stressed, as long as she is safe, I let them stress a little.

If it's stressing you, you could do the dog crate in the run. See if that calms her down a bit.

How does the BO get on with the rest of the flock with that SLW gone? Do you know how the SLW gets on with the rest of the flock if the BO were gone? That might be worth finding out before you do anything dramatic that can't be undone.

I'm not sure why the SLW is doing that to your BO. Sometimes a chicken takes a strong dislike to another specific chicken. I've had success isolating one for a bit. That does not always work, I wound up with a dead chicken from that once. You can certainly turn her loose and see how she behaves.

You may need to choose between the two hens. It's possible another hen will start picking on the BO with the SLW gone. With the BO gone the SLW may start picking in a different hen. You just don't know until you try it.

Good luck!

First, the BO gets along fine with everyone, she's lowest on the PO. She was raised with the Roo and appears to be one of his favorites.
Second, I believe the SLW would be fine without the BO as she's been there longest by 2 yrs and the BO one year.
I'm probably going to have to wait and see if the BO feathers come back before I do anything with the SLW. I don't want the BO to end up back on the bottom end of the PO.
Not exactly sure what to do. I could put the BO in the dog crate inside the run and just leave the SLW where she is.
She's stopped pacing for now.

I'm probably the one stressing. She's stopped pacing finally. Actually just laid an egg. 😊

Ok good, so she'll have others that will hopefully have gotten used to her being out of the flock and might help to keep her in her place when she returns.

Good!

How many other chickens do you have?
It was chaos in the run after posting this thread.
2 of the baby chicks began fighting and there was blood. I removed one and brought it home. I washed his wound (right under his eye) and set it up in the living room. Small house.
I'm if the opinion that these are 2 cockerels. I've dealt with this before but I'll wait and see just to be sure but I'm pretty sure now. Hate to have 2 cockerels cuz I don't have enough hens for that, they will both have to go.

I have somewhere between 20 and 30 cockerels between 8 and 16 weeks right now :th it's crazy here. I have a cockerel pen where they go to once they start misbehaving in the growout coop, then the extra mean ones are in solitary pens, and pairs if they get along reasonably with another cockerel. They were so cute and now they are such a pain. We bred a rooster that was really aggressive but hubby's favorite, his chicks are terrors. I have other cockerels of different breeds still in the grow out coop, but sheesh, come on processing day for these meanies!
