Is this normal for (her) comb to be this dark color? It’s been like this for at least 3 weeks. I didn’t really think much of it until today, I was looking at pictures of other chicks this age and didn’t see others with such dark combs, and now I’m worried.
She’s 6-7 weeks old right now.
First picture- about 3-4 weeks old

What breed is she. I'd not worry I have seen them from no comb at all to all variations red to almost black purple and seen them actually black in pictures of a breed that escapes me right now if she is okay in every other way just relax let her be an individual like us peeples are. And if you holler back with breed or what mix breed she is there are phenominal folks here who will tell ya whats up.

Thank you! That makes me feel much better. She’s a silver laced Wyandotte, or supposed to be anyway. She acts totally normal and I haven’t seen any other issues. So hopefully that’s just how she is 😃

I agree that this is normal. I have a silver laced wyandotte that had a darker comb as a chick, and the darkness is slowly fading into her pinkish color. She's very pretty!
Oh good! Thanks so much, that makes me feel so much better. I couldn’t find anything about it, other than it could be a health concern, so I wasn’t sure. I think I can rest easy now! 😊

My silver laced wyandotte has a pinkish comb area and I was worried because they are flat not like my barred rocks and australorps their little combs are actually like a comb.

This is my girl as she has aged, you can see the darkness now down towards her beak. Just watch her as she grows, and maybe post back if you are still concerned in a few weeks.

@Teresa D Wyandottes have what they call a rose comb I believe, so being "flat" while they are younger is a characteristic of the breed. If you google a picture of a mature Wyandotte you will see that they do not have the "normal" single comb that is most common.

She’s pretty! I think that’s what mine’s starting to do- the darkness is getting closer to the beak and lighter up top. I’ll keep posted in a few weeks. :)

Thoughts on whether mine is a he or she?
