SLW gender help please

I have 3 Wyendottes, 2 gold and one silver all bought as pullets about 8 weeks ago. The silver one has more color in the comb and waddles. I’m a new chicken owner so I don’t really know what to look for as far as saddle feathers but the feathers just in front of “her” tail look different from the two gold birds. Am I imagining things or do I have another cockerel in my flock? I’m not opposed to having a rooster but I only have 11 chickens and this would make 3 of them cockerels so I’m going to have to make plans for who gets to stay.

Wyandottes tend to pink up early, so I wouldn't be too concerned yet. Pointed saddles would appear at around 12 weeks, so I would repost then.

Thank you. I read somewhere that saddle feathers would start at 8 weeks. I’m probably guilty of reading and worrying way too much. It’s all new and exciting right now.

No, they generally come in at 12 weeks.
And we've probably all been guilty of that.

I think you have a female.

Wyandotte's combs will often get pink earlier than other breeds.

My male's comb was very pink at 2 weeks old and he had wattles growing in.

This is my boy Amos at around 2-3 weeks old. (Bird holding his head high.) His wattles and comb were actually more pink than this photo shows.

By 8-9 weeks there was no doubt, it's a boy.

If you look closely at the lacing pattern you will see the difference in girls vs boys. When very young, the males lacing looks messy compared to the girls whose lacing is neater and distributed fairly evenly all over the body. The male here shows much more silver on the wings.


Here are the 4 females I raised at the same time. Again, their combs are more pink than this photo shows. They have very little wattle growth.

Thank you those pictures definitely help. The balance in my flock looks better. I do have a Brahma that I’m convinced is a roo and a BYM that I’m still unsure but leaning heavily towards roo. I’m perfectly ok with one roo just don’t have enough ladies to support more than one

Update at 16 weeks I’m pretty sure it’s a pullet. Still no eggs or crowing so I suppose it could still go either way. She still has bigger wattles than either of the gold laced ones but not concerning large for her age. The color is really starting to change to a deep red but I believe that’s normal as they get closer to laying. I’m really looking forward to all these freeloading birds to start contributing some eggs.
