I just bought my first chick and she's supposed to be a pullet but for the life of me I can't really tell and neither could the farmer lol

"she" is about 9 weeks.

Sorry for the crappy cam phone pix..

Anyone have any idea as to which "she" is?

At nine weeks a pullet shouldn't have any red to speak of in her comb. My wyandotte pullets stay very pale until not too long before they're ready to start laying....then they get their red combs and wattles.

Well darn..

Yeah, the hen was an older one.

Oh well.. I guess I'll have to wait for the next batch, any way of telling the difference when they're really young?

i think it might be a pullet...all 6 of our SLW pullets have always been the reddest and they got red really young. They are 12 weeks now and still the reddest and most developed by far. Even when they were younger you could still tell which one was the roo.
