Hello All,
I have a batch of SLW chicks who are 4 weeks old with 2 obvious cockerels and a fair few I'm on the fence about.
Here's some of my suspect pullets and I'm looking for the most likely girl. The plan is to keep 1 pullet; the rest already have a forever home lined up.
These are from show lines, but not bred for feather sexing.
Suspect 1: Very skittish... fastest to feather.
Suspect 2: Moderately Skittish - second fastest feathering, but those shoulders...
Suspect 3: One of the hard to distinguish middle 3; doesn't actively seek attention but not particularly skittish.
Aaand for comparison, here's a pic of one of the 'obvious boys' - one of these guys is the 3rd fastest feathering with some white shoulders coming in.
Aaand, Group Shot! The two boys are the highest in the photo - the one with the partial white shoulders and the one in the background.
So, what do you think? If I had to pick today, which seems the safest bet?
