Are they a smaller standard size chicken or slower to mature??

My two SLW Roo's are half the size of my BR and my BO Roosters. Will they catch up or are they naturally smaller. My SLW pullets are smaller than my BO, RIR and BR's too

They should be pretty big if bred to the standard. If they come from a hatchery they will be on the smaller side since they breed for productivity and numbers rather than a standard.

wonder if you ended up with bantams? Ours keep up with the rest of them but they are slower to feather in.

I went out and looked again and I wouldn't say half the size (like I did say). I would say just smaller overall. Legs not as thick, not as tall not as heavy as the BR and the BO. They are hatchery birds as well as my BO and BR's who are big. I am keeping my larger, heavier roo's but the SLW roo is colorful.

im just growing out my first wyandottes but i have heard they mature slowly

our hatchery quality SLW's were very small and not friendly, so we got rid of all of them but one who had spangling instead of lacing

Of the 3 breeds you named the Wyandottes would be the smallest. The Orpingtons the largest.
