Small air sack on golden pheasant eggs in bator

Thank you for this.
My air cells are slightly smaller than this but not worryingly so, they have started drawing down now so look a lot bigger anyway.
I got conflicting info on incy temp (some say 99.5 other 100f) so i went middle of the road at 99.7
Day 21 will technically start at midday today so hopefully i will see some action in the next 48 hours. Ive filled the wells and the humidity has settled on 62%.
Out of a dozen 11 were fertile and all have made it this far so i will be gutted if i dont get a god hatch rate.
Hopefully i will be able to post a picture soon...........
Good deal...keep us posted! :fl

Well that was a moderately awful experience.
I didnt get any pips till day 24, only 4 of 11 hatched on thier own, 3 internally pipped and DIS.
The others i assisted BUT the DIS and the assists ALL have the same leg problems, left legs totally seperated at the knee and the leg almost turned backwards, the position of the leg in the shell meant they could pip but would never have rotated to zip.
With a heavy heart i euthanised all but two of the bad leg birds which were not as bad as the others.
I can only assume this was genetic and im definitely going to be more selective who i buy eggs from now.
This was definitely not an incubator problem and i find it strange that all the chicks had exactly the same problem.

Sorry to hear you had a bad hatching experience. Seeing as they pipped on day 24, the temperature was on the way low side. This is why it it's so important to have an accurate, reliable, calibrated thermometer and hygrometer, seperate from the manufacturers installed sensors.

Not only genetics but nutritional deficiencies of the parent stock, sanitation of the incubator, frequency of turning the eggs while in storage awaiting incubation and during incubation, also the temperature at which they are stored, can all have affects on the developing embryos, as well as alot of other things not stated.

Better luck next time, hope this experince doesn't discourage you from trying again. Hatching your own birds is very rewarding.
