Finally getting organized and was putting the chicken scratch in a small metal can...when I did I found it teeming with live tiny beetles. I'm assuming it's ok because they will eat thos

They are most likely grain weevils:

They can be annoying especially when they show up in your pantry. In feed containers they are just free protein for your birds.

Just keep your grain in sealed containers and they won't spread. Feed the grain, and weevils, to your chickens. If you see the little guys elsewhere in your house, keep your grain products (corn meal, oatmeal, pasta, etc.) In sealed containers or ziplock bags and spray insecticide. They aren't a big deal really. They will show up in just about any grain eventually. The eggs are there when you buy the stuff. Mist commonly in bird seed and other grain based feeds.

The grain is all out in the garage. I went to Tractor Supply today and got metal cans to put my different feeds in them. My stuff in the house is all in sealed glass containers and I keep minimal amounts so I don't have anything sitting too long. It was scratch so there was all sorts of stuff in there. Extra protein bonus :)..for them
