I have 3 chicks all 5 days old, and all different breeds. The one chick (it is a barred rock) much smaller than the other two (easter egger & australorp) so ive been keeping an eye on it. It eats, drinks, poops but lays down much more than the other two and doesnt seem to have the coordination the others do. It gets off balance and tends to hold one leg up often (not always the same one). Not horribly noticeable but just enough to make me think something is up. Any supplement recommendations out there i can try? She just seems like she needs a little help. Since i received them ive been adding avaplex to their water. I have a bunch of things on hand but im not sure what would be best.

Do you have photos of her?

I'd get some B-Complex and dissolve 1/4tablet in very small amount of water. Give her drops of the mixture throughout the day. Do this daily for at least a week.

She's holding a leg up often, have you examined it for swelling, something stuck to the foot, etc.?

Australorps are twice the size of Barred rocks and some Easter eggers can be big too(esp Marans crosses) If this chick is eating and getting around good I wouldn't be too concerned. The frailest chicks I've ever had shipped were legbar cockerels from Murray McMurray .It took them about 10 days to keep up with the rest.

Barred Plymouth Rocks should be big birds. The minimum weight in the breed standard for large fowl Plymouth Rocks is slightly heavier than the minimum weight in the standard for large fowl Australorps.
Just saying I have both and my Australorps are twice the size of my barred rocks .They're from a hatchery

Ah ok, we don't have the same big hatcheries over here but from what I know of them that likely explains it :)

Large fowl Plymouth Rocks shouldn't be half the size of an Australorp though.

How is the chick doing now @Duckydos ?
She's still the same. Eats, drinks, poops regularly but lays down a lot and not as active as the others. She's still super little. When she's standing she just drifts off to the side and falls down. She does love scrambled eggs and gets super active when I give them to her. I give her vitamin e and poultry cell twice a day... Other than that not much going on. I attached a photo, she's 10 days old. Also attached a pic of the EE for comparison.

That chick doesn't look like a barred rock. Since you seem to have ended up with something other than what you thought, is it possible it's a bantam?

Posting a thread in the "what breed/sex" forum, with clear photos and details of where you got the chick, could help you ID it.

Really?! Lol goodness gracious I never really gave it any consideration that it might be the wrong breed.
