Small coop ideas needs

So if I find a good size dog house I should cut a hole in the back and add a part for the nesting baskets then have a roost inside the house? Does that sound right? Ventilation holes added of course.

What could I use to add to the back of the house for the nesting area? I don't have much building skills

Used Dogloos and work fine for my birds - both as communal nesting areas and "hover boxes". You would be surprised at how many bantams can cram themselves into one on a cold and stormy night. Use coir and coco chips as bedding and they will stay or a long time. Put up some roosts on the outside, and your birds will be very happy, rain or shine.

Do you have a Rural king nearby? I'm new and not sure how to see where you are from. I got two small coops from mine that were discontinued models for cheap. You may try that

I can post pics soon but after I made this post I got a dog kennel that some would probably say is too big for my four chickens but I like that they have room. Look into dog kennels, those are easy to set up. I put chicken wire on top and also lined the cage with chicken wire, so they wouldn't get out when they were still small. I would definitely suggest a medium dog house, you can get them for a good price if you look around, I just added a door but, honestly because predators cannot get in, I stopped closing the door at night and just let them go in and out as please. I have a 6 foot privacy fence and the dog kennel I have is a 10wx10Lx6h. This is the cheapest route I found if you're not building everything yourself. I also put tarp on on top one side for the rain. I'm in Florida
