I noticed today that my almost 1 year old Langshan hen has a small cut about 1 cm long in the “ankle” above a feather. We put antibiotic ointment on it but I realized I never bought a chicken first aid kit. How should I really treat it and with what products? I want to be sure the chickens don’t start pecking at her. Thanks!

Chlorhexidene with water is good to clean wounds , and some use Vetericyn or similar wound sprays. Plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment is fine to put onto wounds. BluKote purple spray is antibiotic/antifungal and is good to hide minor scrapes and wound from pecking, but it can sting, and is not for deep wounds.
