Small dog life jacket recommendations?

I'm wondering if any of you small dog owners have recommendations for a life jacket or life vest. I've tried two different life jackets on my Boston Terrier so far and I was not happy with the fit for both of them. The last one I ordered fits better but is pretty tight against her "armpits" and looks very stiff, bulky, and uncomfortable. My Boston is thin (her chest/sternum is only about 2 inches wide!), but she is a normal weight (18-19 lbs.), height, and length.

I would like to start training her to sit in my kayak. I don't know if she is able to swim, but she is not afraid of stepping into my pond to watch the frogs.

Yeah, she probably can, but I want her to have a life jacket in case something were to happen that would prevent her from swimming.

I have no idea, (my smallest dog is almost 60 lbs) but petsmart is a good place to start.

My canoe fisher friend duck taped sealed large soda/water bottle (spray painted fluorescent pink) to either side of his dog's harness. and pool noodle chunk to the chest area.

Now that's an interesting idea! Certainly much cheaper than a store-bought life jacket.

Yes, cheap but effective. Doesn't have to be pretty to save your dog.
he has a Visla, and she slides out of any vest he found.
