Small doors located on coops.

I got the largest door panel for my latest coop construction because I have Jersey Giants. The other coop has the regular sized door panel.

If I don't have an automatic door, must I still make sure there is some kind of door, or will leaving it bare be okay too?

The pop-door is a way for the hens to enter & exit the coop and it must be able to be secured at night to keep predators out.
