I have a beautiful SLW that started laying over two weeks ago. I have a bantam hen that lays cream-colored eggs and I started noticing that there were brown eggs in the nest the same size as hers. I thought it was odd that she was laying eggs that were a different color. Then, one day I found a cream egg and a brown egg in the same nest after the SLW was in the nest. I realized then that my SLW was laying very small pretty brown eggs. She is a full-size hen, so I would expect that she would lay full-size eggs. I've consistently gotten small brown eggs from her. Any idea how long it will be until she lays full-size eggs? I've never had this happen before.

Mine have always started laying with smaller eggs. How long varies, maybe a month, maybe a few months, til they get full size, in my experience.

All the pullets I've raised have laid one or two small eggs and then started laying normal sized eggs. I'm just not sure why this one hen is laying such small eggs. I also have 10 other pullets her age and none of them are laying yet. Frustrating...

I had a Giant Partridge Cochin pullet that laid small eggs for almost a year... then finally they got just a little bigger, but not as big as I would have expected.

Some of my sex links are finally getting into the store bought large egg size...the other day there was one that was larger than the large size!

The EE has laid 4 of the cutest small blue eggs over the last week. Waiting on the other two EE's to lay.
