It's ok, my DH and I are screwed, too.

We have a coop that will comfortably hold six LF chickens, which is located within a run that will easily handle 10. We have another three-quarters of an acre we could expand to. We currently have 5 pullets. Those 5 have totally won us over, they're just so darn much fun and have really been a joy to have so far. While we definitely wanted to go all-ladies to start, our own neighbors soon had us considering a roo (overtly asked us why we didn't and when we said we didn't want to bother anyone, they said it wouldn't be a bother at all

).

That opened the door to trying to track down my heart's delight, a wellie roo. My DH was on the fence about it, but he's since been won over. We even re-consulted with the neighbors and got the green light again. Then we called the County Commission and the Agricultural office to ask about regulations regarding roosters in our area - all green-lighted (and it was suggested to us that we apply to have our property listed as a small farm preserve...AWESOME). Amidst all of this, I was having no luck finding anyone in our area with a wellie roo....and then came across a fellow BYCer who's willing to hook us up. So if that part works out, we'll have six....and be able to hatch our own.....

I did that two weekends ago... wanted two d'uccles, came home with 8 turken chicks, a wyandotte, and a pair of RIR. Never did get those d'uccles...

You sound like me! I went to a breeder last weekend and came home with 3 chickens and 2 ducks.

Only went to get one!

Love it. We have 8 chickens and 2 turkeys, and I currently have a bet with my husband regarding weight loss that will result in a second coop in my backyard with any 6 chickens I want so I don't have to go across the street to our main coop when I need a chicken fix
